As they concentrate on digital transformation, more businesses are utilising edge computing. In fact, it is predicted that the size of the worldwide edge compute industry will increase by 37.9% to $155.9 billion in 2030. Promising use cases in sectors including retail, manufacturing, logistics, and smart cities will depend on the integration of edge computing with 5G's low latency, fast speeds, and dependability. For any use case that demands data-intensive computing activities, like as augmented reality (AR) or computer vision, GDC Edge customers across industries will be able to simply take use of T-Mobile's 5G ANS to receive the low latency, high throughput, and stability they will need.
As an illustration, manufacturing businesses might employ computer vision technology to increase safety by watching equipment and instantly alerting support staff if there are problems. Additionally, by allowing machines to perform risky activities remotely, governments may use augmented reality to keep workers a safe distance from harmful circumstances.
With the assistance of Google Cloud, T-Mobile developed a proof of concept at T-Mobile's Tech Experience 5G Hub nicknamed the "magic mirror" to illustrate the potential of 5G ANS and GDC Edge in a retail environment. This interactive display uses edge image rendering and cloud-based processing to "magically" bring retail objects to life. To make interactive movies or product details, such ingredients or directions, show onscreen almost instantly, users only need to hold a product in front of the mirror.
